Shy Child es una banda de electro/new rave de New York. La banda se formó en el 2000 por Pete Cafarella (voz) y Nate Smith (batería). Ambos tocaban antes en la banda «El Guapo» (ahora conocida como Supersystem).Empezaron a grabar discos en el 2002 en pequeñas disqueras de Montreal y Nueva York, llegando a ser distribuidos en Japón. La banda ha estado haciendo gira alrededor de EEUU y Europa, con el auge del movimiento del new rave.
